Years ago, education meant committing to memory large quantities of information. This practice continued for years and, to man, education became synonymous with the accumulation of facts. The more one learnt the better the school. Thus less attention was paid to the need to use this knowledge to reach logical, reasoned conclusions.We are living in the information era, where all the knowledge of the centuries is available to anyone with access to a computer. Hence, the emphasis in education is shifting from the acquisition of facts to the techniques of dealing with information, systematically and logically. We should aim to teach pupils to reason the how and why of things and where to find accurate information and what to do with it when acquired and this skill must be developed at the formative stage of a child. The ability to think logically must be acquired along with presentation of reasoned argument based on known facts. We believe that children must be provided ample opportunities to interact socially, discuss problems and find remedial measures, explore the unknown and reach out for information, accumulate facts and present them publicly with reasoning. Hence today's education must aim at maximum exposure and social interaction. Our aim is to develop a balanced personality by bringing out the best in a child mentally, intellectually, spiritually, physically, culturally and morally. It is vital that the mind and intellect, which pilot the dynamics of personality, are developed along the right lines. Our main goal in education is to provide an environment where each child aspires for excellence in all fields of life. To succeed in achieving the desired goal, we would need not only the devotion and dedication of the teachers, but also the total commitment of the taught, as well as the fullest cooperation of the parents.
